Doug Morten's Mission, like that of the city of St. Helens, is to provide effective and efficient service to our citizens.  As mayor, Doug will lead the city to:

• Develop and preserve a high quality of life for our residents, businesses, and visitors.
• Provide a safe and healthy environment within a sound economic framework.
• Provide open and responsive leadership that works for the benefit of all.

This election is about you!  I believe that citizens of St. Helens should have a say in the present and future of our community.  A mayor must communicate, be accountable and be involved with our city so that representative government will function.

We deserve a mayor who is visible, active in comunity event and cultural activities.  We need a mayor that will support volunteer efforts and contributes to our service organizations.

We deserve a mayor that makes more than a minimum effort to show up.  We deserve a mayor who will report on his department and perform evaluative duties.  We derserve a mayor that has a passion for his duty and a vision for the future.

You expect it, you deserve it, but in the past four years;  it's been missing.  I pledge to you, my best effort.

As Parks Commissioner, I have revitalized the parks department with an outstanding staff.  We have new parks.  Our parks are better, cleaner and safer.

As Public Works Commissioner, I have fought to make our streets safer.  I've initiated improved department communication and accountability.  Our crews serve you with pride.

As Councilman, I have initiated the following:
Safe Passage Initiative, Collaborative Governing Policy, Sustainable Practices, Inter-Department Reporting, Annual Department Head Evaluations, Project Management Documentation, Waterfront Master Plan, Grants Writing Position, Heritage & Historical Preservation Initiative.
